Flaming Gorge
Caleb and I went on his 2nd and my Nth Flaming Gorge trip. Caleb caught a 18` fish, and used the net Grandpa found at the inlet to land his fish. I caught a good number of fish and actually landed a a few of them. there was a hole where you could just see a ton of very large fish and we tried to catch them all! however it was right when we needed to leave so we didn't get to spend too much time in that hole, but we did catch a fish each (Caleb and I) then Uncle Dan found the hole after us and wouldn't come to the boat. We played Calli-ball and had lots of yummy food. then on our return trip Dad took us to this Geological Scenic by way, that i have never been on before. wow, that place should be a national park from what i was seeing. we explored 2 caves and then i was able to cross the stream and explore a spring that comes from under the mountain and there is a really large cave (unfortunately they have it barred off). it was really large and i could see no end to the cavern! i really wanted to get inside the bars! that was pretty darn neat! Caleb is a trooper and wants to climb every steep cliff and jump across every rock in the rapidly flowing stream. i think sometimes he feels i am 'holding him back' when i won't let him, but hopefully he will see the wisdom in it later on. Grandpa had him up at the first cave and it was pretty steep climb up and a treacherous 'slide' down, but he loved every minute of it.

Awesome! I cannot describe how badly I wish I could have been there. I am so glad Caleb is making some great memories there. That is the real stuff! Maybe I'll get to come next year.
Josh made the best catch of the whole trip- He caught Dad's fishing pole! Dad had got a snag and while trying to free it he lost his grip and it dropped into the raging river. Luckily the snag kept it from flying away. Josh was positioned on a nearby rock on the other side of the river and could see the pole under the gushing river holding on for dear life by it's fishing line still snagged 15 ft upriver. Josh was able to get a long branch underneath it and scoop it up (very wobbly and much to all of our surprise) over his head and into his hands. Dad salvaged the pole that we'd all considered as good as gone and was able to continue fishing. It was seriously incredible.
really does sound like an adventure. I agree with Jake about the memories--it doesn't come better than being out as the lone kid with grandpa, dad , uncle . . .
Lucky you, Caleb!
how fun! I was always envious of the fun adventures you boys had with dad and the uncles.. not sure if i would really enjoy them all but what great memories :) I would like you to know josh that on my computer there are like 3 comments that are in chinese... weird!.. I am guessing that you do not see them, creeepy!
