Alright it has been a looooong time since i have done anything with my blog. i would like to think it has something to do with the 'time' of life i am in right now. We don't take pictures (we can never find the camera), i cant sit and write anything (little girls constantly tugging at me and screaming, and needing fathering), there never seems to be any 'free' time, and when there is, i want to read my book! i am beginning to understand why there are soo many baby pictures and just pictures in general of me, and a relatively few in comparison of Deborah. we have oodles of pictures of Caleb, and Hannah is severely lacking. We know this, and yet it doesn't change for the above reasons. she does cute things all the time and we say "sheesh we really should get this on film or video" it doesnt happen. i need Becky at my house for a couple of years to capture these moments for us and write cute things about them. (i think she is the best writer i have ever read.....and i read lots!) soo, where am i going with all this? Hannah, just turned one! i actually have a couple of pictures of the event, and need to share with everyone just what a fun girl she is turning out to be. the first few months...alright until just recently, she wouldn't cuddle...always squirmy and not content.. she screamed ( more like a screech at just the decibel that makes my fatherly impulse to hold her turn to the 'i should probably just end this now and worry about consequences later' mode). she was a constant and by that i mean CONSTANT spitter-uper. now however she is a little more cuddly, doesn't screech as much and aside from the 6 poopies every day is generally quite fun and cute! i think that since she has been walking the last 2 months she has exercises a lot of her 'energy' out. Of course as i am writing this she is screaming bloody murder in the bath tub with Abby.....but things are great, we love her!! happy birthday -H

So Jacob Lathel Callister has achieved another notch on his belt. another completion in his yearbook of life. Quite a man now, had the privilege of doing the Hole in The Rock with him this year and Andrew and Caleb sure enjoyed his presence...(they still talk about his inspiring and statuesque entry in to Lake Powell at the bottom of the trail. ) you will have to ask him about that.....it is fun to see the father he is becoming and is, cute kids and i am sure a handful, but he has or will learn patience, and be an even better man for it. kids certainly have a way of trying what little patience you have, and as your patience increases, so do their abilities to test it!! i hope that your birthday was and is everything it deserves to be and know that a little family in Kaysville is thinking of you and wishing uncle Jacob the best! P.S.. Caleb and Andrew really want to play spin the bottle again and have some good ideas of things to do if it lands on you!

So i am really getting old, when i think about my youngest brother hitting the ripe ol age of 28! freak!! i remember turning 28, um wow. He is one of the coolest people i know, and one of my very best friends! not many people out there would understand the coolness of Clutch, or be willing to belt out Mississippi Queen whilst crossing the Mississippi river. not many people would be willing to sleep in the truck on the bench seats rather than spend money for a hotel. not many people would make up sweet trivia games to help us get through the great plains states and actually enjoy it, and not many people would spend 90% of their time in Minnesota on the toilet. this is what my brother Dan is and does! he is the coolest guy, he will never short change you, will always give you his best, i have literally seen streams of sweat running off of his nose, and he still keeps going. happy birthday to the original employee of Great Basin Asphalt, king of the squeegie! love ya man

Now this may seem like a strange post, but for 'most' of my life, this team has been an important part of my life, not 'thee' most important thing, but they definitely were a 'bell weather' for josh most of the time. i was up when they were winning big, and down when the lost (which wasn't very often) i will forever remember the 'finals' years and will never forget the awful refereeing and will never 'like' michael jordan. i can certainly admit that he was amazing, but i cant get over the image of him smoking a cigar celebrating the second championship over the jazz in the Delta Center. the main reason i am even going here is because the one constant from the time i was 12 is Jerry Sloan. i Love that guy! tough as nails, but humble, always took the blame and never took the credit for all the success of the Utah Jazz. He retired after being the coach for 23years! longer than any professional coach in any sport. so just to acknowledge my respect for him and my love for what he demanded from his teams...tell me if you can, wether you can remember any off court incidents or embarrassing situations to the team while he was at the head....it happens all over the NBA and not with the Jazz! i wish him the best and am excited for the future of the team. i think the future is bright and it is mainly due to this great coach!

Well, as hard as it is to believe, we have another Callister sibling in their 30's. Happy birthday Rach! 3o is the new 20, so there really isn't too much to be worried about Rachel. you are awesome! we have perhaps more of your art in our house than any other and we love it! I dont know if you think so, but to everybody else you exude confidence, and that is an attractive quality and one that serves you well. we wish you didn't live so far away so we could all celebrate together, but i have come to realize that until Stephen takes Deb somewhere exotic to live, it is going to just be her and i here with the parents in Utah. kind of sad really, but we love hearing about things that are happening in Lubbuck so keep us informed and love your 30's. i am half way through now?! scary!

Saturday was a big day for our family. Samantha was giddy because she was finally going to be baptized and she loves when the attention is on her! also since everyone who had the ability to be there for the baptism was going to be there, we decided to have Hannah's baby blessing at the same time. so congratulate Sammy (who was generous to share her special day with her little sister) on being a new member of the church, and getting the holy ghost, and Hannah, for being mostly content through her blessing. those in both circles were, Grandpa Von, Great Grandpa Guenter, Uncle Stephen Skokos, Great Grandpa Verl, Bishop Dunford, Uncle Rick, Cousin Stephen, myself.

Sammy is now officially 8 years old! a little crazy to think that i have had this energetic and bouncy girl that everybody in the Neighborhood 'knows' for her daring bike and scooter skills and not being afraid of anything, for eight whole years now!

She started off her birthday by opening a present she had for a couple of days from her uncle Dan and Aunt Angie. She loves her 'skull, cross bones, and guitar pajamas! (so does her dad!)

then her dad took her to lunch mono y mono. we went to Pepperbellies here in Kaysville, because she loves their burrittos. we had fun with the appetizer chips and salsa and they had some fire sause that we each dared each other to try, and we went through quite a bit of root beer to put it out!
Then her, Deena, and Andrew went to chucky Cheeses to play the games with all the free tokens we had from a year ago or so.
then everybody came over and we had a birthday party at the house. it was a good time and everybody got a chance to dance with sammy, and do leg wrestling, and have cake and ice cream. thanks for coming everybody! obviously our cameras time and date thingy is way off, it really is Oct 23, 2010 :-)

alright, i know that many of you are curious about what i have been doing all summer to try and make ends meet. well here it is. I have been trying to get my business off the ground, and have found that it is quite a feat to get it rolling. i have had about 10 jobs so far, and there are a few more on the schedule. i have one employee, you may know him.. Daniel James Callister. i think he is learning that he is glad he is pursuing his Masters degree so that he doesn't have to do this type of thing ever again...j/k we have had fun watching each other sweat and sweat and drip sweat all day long. the last job we did, i literally looked like somebody had upended a cooler of water over my head, and nobody had! but the company is the best i have ever had doing this stuff, so i will miss Dan when he leaves for greener pastures. here are some pics of us working. There is a story about the moose, i had Sammy with me dropping off flyers in Park City. she was going up this long driveway and she all the sudden runs back to the truck and says there is a moose on the driveway. i was a little frustrated because she had been dinking around the last few driveways and i figured she was just telling me a fib to get out of it. i told her that moose wouldn't be around all these houses next thing you know the picture happens.

Alright, i have not updated this thing in a very long time, and i am sure there are lots of things i should be saying to catch people up. but i will use this time to remind everyone that Andrew Von Callister is getting older ....and smarter! his birthday was friday the 9th, we were able to go to The Lagoon, and Andrew rode the Bat! that is a monumental accomplishment for him as every ride scares him. he likes the little helocopter rides and things in the 'kiddie' area, but he rode the bat, it was his first roller coaster. he claims that he liked it. Sammy also got over some pretty big fears and rode the Bat with Andrew and Me, she even rode the Collosus, and wild mouse! it was a pretty fun day. Andrew got a new Rasor push scooter, that he LOVES, and a 5000 gallon swimming pool! which is really for the family but since his birthday is in the summer......you know how it works. Sammy lost her first tooth, and Caleb is still Caleb. Abby is getting bigger and talking a lot, though none of it really makes any sense, she loves to hear herself. Dan and I have been sealing driveways, and Deena is still nursing and trying to keep baby #5 healthy and growing.....more on that in a few weeks i am sure.

Flaming Gorge

Caleb and I went on his 2nd and my Nth Flaming Gorge trip. Caleb caught a 18` fish, and used the net Grandpa found at the inlet to land his fish. I caught a good number of fish and actually landed a a few of them. there was a hole where you could just see a ton of very large fish and we tried to catch them all! however it was right when we needed to leave so we didn't get to spend too much time in that hole, but we did catch a fish each (Caleb and I) then Uncle Dan found the hole after us and wouldn't come to the boat. We played Calli-ball and had lots of yummy food. then on our return trip Dad took us to this Geological Scenic by way, that i have never been on before. wow, that place should be a national park from what i was seeing. we explored 2 caves and then i was able to cross the stream and explore a spring that comes from under the mountain and there is a really large cave (unfortunately they have it barred off). it was really large and i could see no end to the cavern! i really wanted to get inside the bars! that was pretty darn neat! Caleb is a trooper and wants to climb every steep cliff and jump across every rock in the rapidly flowing stream. i think sometimes he feels i am 'holding him back' when i won't let him, but hopefully he will see the wisdom in it later on. Grandpa had him up at the first cave and it was pretty steep climb up and a treacherous 'slide' down, but he loved every minute of it.

Happy Easter everybody!

Fun morning for us, after the easter bunny hid easter baskets, and my kids had to find theirs, a very laborious and much harder task than i think the easter bunny thought it would be....they discovered their easter present. Robes made by Deena,

May i say one more thing, i am not sure what to make of it, maybe it was what i needed to hear, but i predicted that Pres. Uchdorf would speak on patience during priesthood session, then predicted his talk would be on 'love' when he spoke in G.C. i am not quite sure why it has made such an impression on me that i was right, anyways hope this Easter finds everybody well and happy!

Little Nephew...Giant Man

I want to send my congratulations to my little sister, for becoming a mother once again! It is a happy day for me, and a sad day for me as well. We were all aware that this little guy was not destined to live long, and after drawing breath, lived for just about an hour. I can say this, he chose his parents well, and My sister now has a Celestial son, somebody who 'made it' and will i know, be looking down on his family with much anticipation that they make it and be reunited with him. I never got to see little Tobi in this life, but I am sure I was his favorite uncle in pre mortal life. We all know he was a Giant of a man there, wiser and smarter than any of us, he 'proved' this by the fact that he only needed a brief time here to gather the necessary tools to move on. I am proud of him, and hope we can one day 'Whistle and go fishing in heaven"!

There are many things i would like to say, but let me just say I love you Becky and David, and hope you can both find peace and joy in the fact that you have a fantastic son who now can focus on paving a way for you, to be with him.

chair remodel

so Deena inherited a bunch (12) chairs from the endoscopy center waiting room if we wanted them. we always need chairs when company comes over so thought what the heck. when I saw them i wasn't too impressed. they were hard, the foam from the 70's was flat and the fabric was not real thrilling. i thought maybe we should take them anyway and try and sell them for a little extra change. then i had a second thought, lets see what it might cost to put our own fabric on them, and see if we can find them acceptable. we really could use some extra chairs for the deck and for when we have guests. deena found this fabric that she loved and we bought some extra cushiony stuff, i think the look awesome and now i am glad we have them!! Deena and i have done all the work in the mold of Rachel and Angie, we wanted to show that we too can do some things artsy when need gives inspiration.

What i have been so busy with!

alright, it is time to explain what i have been so busy with the last couple of months. I have started my own business, and just hoping i can get it off the ground. there is so much involved with starting up a business that i really have at times been overwhelmed. Here it is. I can hardly believe that this little girl has been with us for an entire year now!! time flies! little Abster is quite a change of pace as far as girls in my family are concerned. she is just pleasant almost all of the time, she has a really cute personality that we are starting to see more and more of. she loves to show off and loves to speed crawl every where. she isn't real cuddly, more wiggley like sammy was but doesn't have the 'zilla' quality ...yet...we are keeping our fingers crossed.

Alright, this is a pretty morbid post, but i haven't posted anything for a while, and even though it is my slow season, i have been really busy, (more on that in forth coming posts).

last week i injured my little pinky toe (i am not sure how) but ended up with a hangnail. it was moderately sore (i have had these before) only this time it never healed. a couple of days ago my toe felt like it was going to explode, it was huge and very sore. i could feel my heart beat in it! finally after realizing that my neglect was not getting me anywhere i went to the doctor. The doctor made me see a foot specialist, the foot specialist said it looked bad. he said " i can promise you that you will sleep better tonight than you have in a couple of days, i can also promise you that you are going to hate me for the next 30 minutes). That was comforting. He produced some litocane to numb my little piggy, and he said it was going to be the most painful part of the ordeal. HE WAS RIGHT! Man that hurt! he spent 20 seconds with the needle in my poor little toe injecting all around the litocane. it stung like a mother! when that was done he said he was going to dig out my hangnail. he took turniquite rubber thing and clamped it on the base of my toe then started wrapping gauze around my toe very tightly, then all of the sudden my toe burst open, it was totally discusting! he unwrapped the gauze and took a scalple and punctured the skin beneath my toe nail, then he took some hemostats and inserted them in to my toe via the hole he had just made and started 'probing' for lack of a better word around then he clamps down on something and tears it out. it was a huge piece of Toenail that was causing the infection! it was totally unbelievable how large it was. then he could poke a stick from my toenail through the back end of my toe, all the way through?! that was trippy and i am certainly glad that it was numb or i might have puched his lights out. that was it! after some clean up, he wrapped my toe up and gave me some instructions regarding care of it, and i left.... but check out the pics. if you dare!

Spit n Fire

When you think of Rachel, or maybe I should say, when I think of Rachel, i always remember the 'spit n fire' of her personality, and I don't mean that in a bad way! My Samantha reminds me of Rachel when younger. Sammy is hard, but i tell her all the time, you are just like your aunt Rachel, and that 'spit n fire' will serve you like it has her. what do i mean by that. Rachel is super kind and always helping people, especially special needs people. she gives them the time of day, that isn't easy, and you get taken advantage of alot, but she seems to not mind, she is strong in her beliefs and will not succumb to vain temptations. she is artistic and what makes her art great ( and i am always floored by her creativity) is the fact she creates what 'she' likes. there is a sense of 'who cares' what anybody else thinks, and that makes her stuff whether singing, painting, or craftiness uniquely Rachel, and Rachel is unique! She wasn't fooled by the great looking guys that wanted to date her but were nothing more than great looks. She can tell if you are worth anything pretty easily and is not afraid to kick to the curb the ones that needed kicking to the curb. Rachel is strong, with a great sence of humor, she is a great mother, and you can tell she just adores her kids!

we love you rach, and hope this year is another great and happy one for you!! 29 pretty soon our parents will have 4 kids in their 30's!

Coolest Game i have ever seen!

alright, that title sounds dramatic, but I truly cannot think of a better sporting game i have ever seen in my life. (and it was Soccer for crying out loud). Real Salt Lake was in the MLS Championship game against the LA Galaxy, and from kickoff till the end, i was soo entertained. this was high action soccer! We (Real Salt Lake) were huge underdogs, and barely made the playoffs, but put it together when it counted and made our way to the Championship! LA Galaxy have David Beckham who is world famous (top 5 player) in the entire world. I wish i would have had the forsight to record this game. we were down 1 -0 at halftime, we made a fantastic score in the second half and out played LA the entire second half, we had numerous opportunities to score a winning goal, including the very last play of regulation and came up just short. these guys were gassed, you could tell they had given it their all, it was so neat to see a team put it all on the line. the game came down to penalty kicks. it was soooo dramatic. i was on the edge of my seat and sweating. you have to watch it for yourselves http://real.saltlake.mlsnet.com/t121/ then click the link for MLS cup 2009 penalty kicks to see for your selves how it turned out. this is the first major sports champiionship in utah since the 1971 Utah Stars... it was just soo entertaining.

Finally, after a ga-gillion moments spent thinking about the daunting task at hand, we finally finished re-doing our deck. (well mostly Deena and her grandpa) but i did help as i could with all my work schedule. it looks sooooooooo much better now without the trellis and having slats. the biggest task was painting it all... there is still some structural things to take care of, but it is ready for the winter at least!

Utah Jazz

Grandpa gave Caleb and I his tickets to the Utah Jazz game last night! We had a lot of fun, it was the first game of the season at home for the Jazz, so there was lots of promotional things going on. We both got Jazz hats, which are actually really nice. We went early to enjoy the atmosphere, and hung out around the tv studio, and even got on TV! (nobody saw it but us, but we were excited!) then i was telling Caleb all about the last time i was there with dad, and the Jazz bear showed up at our seats and played around with us... low and behold, Caleb turns around and there was the bear sitting right next to him! he gave him a high five! (and we held onto our hats for sure!! (inside joke with dad and i)The Jazz won and we had a really fun night.. thanks dad for the tickets and allowing Caleb and i to have a memorable night!

October makes for easy blog ideas, since there are so many birthdays!! but i am especially excited to talk about my little sister! I don't know how she does the things she does, i just know she has been doing it for as long as i can remember. I know that Annie has commented on the "spaz" or energy bursts that the callister boys have, where they freak out momentarily to 'release' the built up hyperactivity (usually from sitting too long) that we tend to accumulate. well Becky has this trait as well, and there is honestly nothing more amusing to me, then seeing her in one of her spaz 'wigouts'. it always puts a smile on my face! but most things she does put a smile on my face. She is saintly, though she would probably never believe it. Strong personality and strong beliefs, strong determination and will, these october girls are pretty special. i think that is why i was attracted to Deena right away, she is the double image of what i grew up with all my life. So in a way, I owe my family to Becky, as well as my strength in dealing with these strong personalities. I love it, i need strong women in my life, and 2 of the strongest have had to deal with me for quite a while now! i love ya beck, and hope there are many more opportunities for me to see you 'spaz', chat about kids and school. discuss books, give each other strength, and help each other pull through. (or maybe take a spin on a motorcycle) happy birthday little sis!

I remember Dad getting a jimminy Cricket toy at work (or someplace) because it was the charactor that most reminded these people of Dad, or at least their thinking was that Dad, had a very Jimminy Cricket -ish personality. I thought that was pretty fitting for a man who "always lets his concience be his guide'.

I spent last night at the priesthood session alone, for the first time in, I don't know how long. I always have Dad and usually Dan with me, they were both gone for this one. It was telling that there was a talk about Fathers and Sons. Brother Ballard said that Fathers need to listen to their sons, and sons should seek advise from their fathers. Well, I have an exemplary Father, who i know had an exemplary father as well. I thank my 'lucky stars' this is the case. I can remember his attempt at the awkward (for both of us) bird and bees talk, I know he was trying to do what he as a father should do. mostly I remember that he never blew me off, there where times when i am sure it wasn't the most convienient or pleasant thing to father me. however, even in my more rebellious times, my friends always commented on how much they liked me dad. i know my dad didn't approve of what we were doing most of the time, but he genuinely liked my friends, he saw past adolesent stupidity and saw them as people with potential. Jeff, and Thayne, Matt Maio, Jason, all made comments about how they liked my dad, not because he condoned things we did, but because he was always friendly and asking them about thier lives, he was a fatherly figure to some of them who were missing that in thier own homes. Dad never left me out when i was living on my own. he came by all the time to see if i wanted to go golf, or come over for dinner, or go hiking or camping. I know he thought that if he gave me opportunities to be with family i would come back to family.. and he was RIGHT!!

i could go on.... and on. but i just want to wish my Dad a happy birthday! and let him know that i love him and hope that i can be half the dad to my kids as he was and still is to me!

My First Ride in an Ambulance

Well, i have experienced my first and (hopefully)last ride in an ambulance! i was working on a job and while i was opening the lid on one of my tanker trucks it blew up on me! if i wasn't holding on to the ladder as tightly as i was, it would have knocked me clear to the fence (40 ft away). As it was, i was completely covered in Slurry seal and the initial blast hit me square in the face. i couldn't see and passersby who saw it thought i was covered in burning tar! (luckily the material is ambient temperature). the paramedics were immediately called and i was hosed down with a water hose. all of the efforts of people with eye wash, could not get the debris out of my eye, the paramedics said i had to go to the hospital so they could numb my eye and they would have nesssisary equipment to clean the debris out of my eyes. (the nessisary equipment turned out to be q-tips, and something called morgan-lenses.) the nurses and doctor had never seen anything like my eyes. they see some terrible stuff in the emergencie room, but they said they would be talking about all the crazy stuff and amounts of stuff they pulled out of my eyes. i was there for 3 hours then they made me see an opthamologist for expert opinion on further treatment. they put a die in my eyes that makes the scratches show better under their binodular thingies. they said my cornea looked like a scratched cd that has been in the glove box for a year or so. any ways the prognostic for my vision returning to complete normalness is excellent. so i thank my lucky stars.

We have been trying to have fun for this 'last' month of summer. we wen't down to St George for 4 days and played around Sandhollow Res and played around the town. then this weekend I started working on my deck, getting it all repaired and replacing the broken trellis with straight slats. it is going to look really good when i get it all stained and painted. Dad came up for the big BYU win over #3 Oklohoma, which was a great end to a great week.

I have been having blog block lately. I know that I should be posting things more regularly, and my family is just growing and doing all the time, so there should be plenty to say and throw out there. I have been finding myself severly fatigued and exhausted lately, i am sure it is related to my busy work schedule, but i have been kind of a bump on a log lately. this is such a different experience for me. So, i am going to try and bring back the old active Josh, and kick this anomaly to the curb.

i thought for my blog i would share some thoughts from my Elders Qourum lesson this afternoon. it was on the Savior. pretty broad topic. I had been reading the Mortal Messiah by Mckonkie and I have learned so much about the time and situations surrounding the life of Jesus, that it has been just incredible to me and eye opening. I have gained a tremendous respect for Joseph, and John the baptist. Joseph must have been sooo influential to the young Jesus, it was the fathers responsibility to make sure that their sons read and understood the scriptures, said their prayers and new the Schema and Mesuzzah, learned the rites and participated in the ordinances when of age, (hence Jesus coming with joseph and mary to the passover and teaching in the temple).

but what i really wanted to say here was that i read a section about the life of Jesus from baby to his ministry. he learned line apon line, had to study his scriptures and explore their meanings and messages. in other words he had to work at it. it made him more human to me (that may sound funny) but he is God, yet human. he felt pain, had sickness, hunger, and fatigue. Certainly he felt the nail prints in his hands, the scourging, and the pressure of all the weight of the world. he shrunk before bitter cup, because he knew (this is going to hurt man!!) but did it for us. He anticipated that his friends would turn and run, but never anticipated that the Father would withdraw his spirit from him leading to the agonizing "my Father my Father, why hast thou forsaken me!" Truly, he had to do it alone, it was the only way, but as Elder Holland said, " lets never allow him to be alone again." lets use the gift he gave us so that his atonement wasn't vain for us. and help others along the way.

I want to officially welcome the 3rd member of the Von Callister Clan to the 3rd decade of life. this is the decade of family, moving up the ladder, gray hairs, odd hairs in odd places, nicer cars, mortgages, tight budgets moving to a little more fluidity, dotting on kids, remembering all the cool things you thought were sooo important at one time in your life because of your kids interests. weightier callings, and wierd weight fluctuations.. Rebekah and I want to extend a warm hand of encouragement to our 'little' brother who is now, not so little, and getting older, and Older. we are excited for what the future holds for you, and hope that you can continue to look to your past and stay young, for it wont be to far off when you are looking at your 30's as past, so make good memories! you have accomplished much in your first 30 years. take a moment and look back on that, you have lived in Germany, played in a successful band, earned bachelors and masters degrees, married one of the coolest people on earth, landed a good job, and those are just the certifiable memories. many more to come!! the 30's really are the new 20's, although the small of my back tells me that isn't necisarrily true some times, i feel great and want to do all the things i did in my 20's... it just takes a little longer to recover from them.. your a great guy, i cherish some of our fun camping and just out right laughable moments through out life, and look forward to many more! oh, and by the way this birthday actually marks the fact that you have already lived 30 years, working on 31. you are older than you think!

Caleb's Baptism

Caleb was baptised yesterday June 6th. He was soo excited about it, and really thought it was cool that he shared his baptism day with Daniel's Birthday. (Daniel is a hero to Caleb). His grandpa Von, and great grandpa Nygard were his whitnesses. We all stayed later and had a little party at the house with Hawaiin Haystacks (yummy) and chocolate cake for Dan's birthday. Neither Dan or I could beat dad in the 3 games of (daniel) we played, even though i made 3 of 4 shots from the deck! Caleb also just this week lost his 2 front teeth, so we had to get the customary shot with dad. Fun week for Caleb, our newest member of the church! everybody congratulate him!

Maiden Voyage

today, i finally took a break from work and took the family on the Maiden voyage of our new boat. we sold our other boat, and bought this new / better more powerful one. it is soo much fun, and can pull me up skiing in one second flat!! so any body that wants to get up for their first time or what not, will have no problem with this thing! it has a very roomy cuddy that can sleep 4 people and seats that become a queen size bed in the stern of the boat. it was made for water camping! we cannot wait to take some willing people to Powell or where ever and just utilize this thing. we went to Willard Bay, and i am not sure why i have never appreciated this place before, it was very picturesque, the water was phenomenal (though cold). great beaches with covered pavilians everywhere and restrooms and lots of gnats....we had a great time watching Caleb, kneeboard all over the lake, and even cross the wake! and just taking a much needed break from our 'real lives'...

i have the greatest mom in the whole world!! i know there are at least 5 other people who would say the same thing. My mom is truly one of my very best friends, she is solid. I think she doesn't realize just how solid she was in my life. she would probably blame herself for my foolish mistakes, but never take the credit she deserves for what her kids have grown and developed into. I think that my very favorite sound in existance, is my mothers uncontrolled laugh. you cannot help but be lifted up when she is laughing. (she laughs alot!).. My kids love her! i am so glad that my kids get to experience my mom, and live near enough to her that she plays a role in their lives. i wouldn't have it any other way. Mom you are the funnest person to be around, i truly mean it. i thank you for all the growing experiences you helped me, pushed me, shook me, and loved me through! history will show that my mother was my greatest influence, and shaped me into the person i am and will still become.. happy mothers day MOM!!

Caleb and the Conference Center

Ok, Grandpa gave Caleb and Deena tickets to the final session of conference at the conference center! Caleb was sooo excited to go. he kept asking if it was time. after the opening prayer of the morning session, Caleb said is it time to go then? There is a rule for attendance at the conference center that you have to be 8 years old to attend. Deena was confronted by one of the ushers saying that Caleb was to young to go in. Deena feels bad but she insisted that Caleb was in his 8th year, and the guy let him in. (this is not a lie, Caleb is in his 8th year) just not 8. Caleb is such an honest kid that Deena worried that Caleb would say "no i am 7" but he didn't. Caleb was impressed with the place, and thought it was really neat that everybody stands while the prophet comes in. he had a good experience. thanks Grandpa!!

Don't worry all you Von Callister vacationers, I dutifully made an appearance to represent the Von part of Grandma Callisters family. she wanted me to say that she loves all of you and especially me for showing up to her party. i went to the temple session in the morning, then we drove to Delta for her party at The Greeting Place. Caleb was super excited because his 'hero' uncle Ray showed up and actually made time to talk to him and shake his hand and let me take a picture of Caleb with his hero.he has been wanting to meet him for a very long time since we had read his story. he walks on water in Calebs mind.. he was super friendly and loving to Caleb, it made Calebs day, in fact i can't remember a time when Caleb was speechless but he was with uncle Ray. Caleb did say that he thought he would be much younger, we thought that was funny. Brian and Trish were there which was fun to visit with, Tom and Donald. Deena was talking with Shaunna and found out that they homeschool with the Thomas Jefferson model just like we do, and becky does. they have been doing it for years and really love it. she is a great resource. it was a great time! i had to show uncle James how to use his camera so he wouldn't get in trouble for not taking pictures...( he has our exact camera!!) he was cracking me up all day!! wish you all could have been there but you can live it through me!

Deena put together a St Patrick's Day lunch for us, complete with green eggs and ham, green milk, green jellow, cucumbers (with green ranch), and kiwis. nobody in my family got pinched, everybody remembered to wear green right from the get go this morning. I still get a little freaked out mentally when bringing green eggs to my mouth, but they taste the exact same, i seeing the weirdness in Andrews eyes as he poked at his food wondering whatever a 4 year old wonders about green food, it was pretty entertaining. happy st pattys day

Dad took us (me, Caleb, Sammy, Andrew, Deborah, and Grandma) to the goose festival in Delta. youve never seen so many birds in your life! they make a little bit of noise!! Some local kid had a bunch of snakes, scorpions, lizards (serious lizards like hela monsters) and he let my kids and Deborah (i think he liked Deborah) hold an albino corn snake. Sammy wouldn't let go of the binoculars and loved staring at the birds, though i later realised she just liked having the binoculars around her neck like some status symbol or jewelry. it was a good time and Grandma seemed to enjoy the company. i had to show her how to use her new tv converter. i hope she remembers. she seemed a little anxious about it. we were also able to visit grandpas grave, which was pretty cool for me. i haven't seen it for a very long time

She was born to CCR, Steve Miller Band, and Def Leppard. she will probably love classic rock for the rest of her life! she has been a very 'mild' baby so far, the only time she has cried so far was the minute they pulled her out and cleared her mouth...thats it!! Rocket Science

Alright, I have built a rocket launcher out of PVC pipe and a couple of sprinkler valves. It has 2 launch booms and i wired a nine volt battery to the sprinkler valves with a button to control opening and closing the valve. i hooked my air compressor to the rocket launcher and had my kids build some paper rockets. first launch, the rocket blew apart. second launch the rocket went sooo far we couldn't see it in the sky!! a minute or so later pieces of it started making their way to the ground. needless to say, i am still perfecting the rockets, they are almost reaching orbit!! i will post a video later on to show you guys what it does! it would be a fun reunion thingy for uncles and kids!!

my custum made doors

I apologize for not posting for a while. i really haven't done much since Italy. recently however i made these custom doors for my reading room. Deena really wanted doors on these very large 'closet' areas. so i put my ingenuity to the test and designed and built these doors. they are 8 ft tall and open from the middle. 4 doors in all connecting in the center. i used 8ft pine planks with 1x4 pine runners as door moldings and side rails. i fastened everything together with my nail gun. i think they turned out pretty good. i still need to sand and stain them, but wanted to hang them to see how the worked. it is neat to see something from your mind come to fruition and actually work!! now i will do the same thing for the window you see on the wall.

Ah Florence...Ah Pisa

Ok, WE took a train to Florence (Firenze) which was pretty neat. (as soon as we figured out where we needed to go..firenze.. go figure. We saw some of the neatest country side of Italy that is straight out of the books! It was beautiful! After about 2 hrs we arrived in Firenze. What a neat city, though totally crowded with people and the CRAZIEST driving i have ever seen, down the skinniest roads i have ever seen, we saw some of the neatest stuff. We passed the 'Duomo' which you see Sammy and Andrew pictures of, what a crazy huge old church with the craziest rennasaunce archetecture!! it was thrilling, inside were some neat frescoes and statues and the Dome was designed and painted by Michaelangelo! everything is Michaelangelo in Florence. we went and saw the David' it was way larger than i was expecting. i took a picture of Deena right before i found out you weren't supposed to take pictures...oh well. I probably would have taken one anyway! i didn't use my flash for all you art junkies out there!......But the highlight of the trip was the hour and a half more trainride to Pisa! That place was awesome! the leaning tower of Pisa is soooo much taller in real life than you would believe! I think it is something like 400 feet tall. of course this is where Galaleo dropped the different sized balls from the tower to prove the velocity of different sized objects is the same. The babtistry is the other building in the pictures, it is the biggest in the world! the archetecture is just incredible! I must say i was in heaven and thinking that my mother would be in heaven here too! though more on that in my next blog of San Marino!!

Ahh.. Venice!

Ah. Venice - Indiana Jones....Yes we did see the library that Indiana Jones realized that X marks the spot, and eventually found the tomb of Sir Richard! We had such a good time at this incredible floating city! We got lost among the maze of narrow waterlined streets, it seemed at every turn there was some old gothic looking church or plaza with statues of famous people i had never heard of. The archetecture is amazing. i just cannot believe that this city is totally built over water! St Marks square is just amazing. the church tower for the cathederal is just enormously tall, and the art work in every nook and crany of that building is just exquisite! It was here that Sammy got to know the local Pidgeon population intimately! there were serioulsy hundreds of Pidgeons swarming her...(she did have a cracker) the Tourists (which is everybody) all flocked around taking pictures of Sammy with pidgeons serously covering every inch of her body! don't be surprised to see it in National Geographic or something!! We took a water taxi back to the train station wich was amazing. it went along the entire Grand Canal as they call it. What a fun way to see Venice! We saw the gondoliers and even passed one that was singing to his riders!! Way fun way to start our Italian trip!! Next up Florence!! will post next blog then.. Love you and miss you all

Wow, i cannot believe how serious some people take halloween in my neighborhood. The Bishops wife every year has the most crazy costumes and is really fun to go to her house. Our neighbor with the volkswagons, had some remote controlled candy tray that he could move all over the porch and was wearing buck teeth and had a shotgun on his lap and his wife was a cow that glowed in the dark. Then we stopped by Annies Grandma Elodies and this is what we saw(she says she loves halloween).... it was a good night for my kids (nice and warm so we made quite a haul!)

Back from the Shadows of the Past

Ok,

First off I want to congratulate Dan on his Fantastic, and burly beard!! Deena on being able to walk all over the the Yukatan, and Quintana Roo while pregnant. Angie for being able to speak spanish and her graceful bike riding skills at Coba, and i would like to thank myself for my appropriate sombrero!! What a cool trip this was, we decided to spend almost all of our time at different mayan ruins, Tulum, Coba, Chichen Itza, and some other smatterings of places that showed up. They were neat. We saw an actual 'ball game' get played at Xcaret (complete with fire). Got a ritualistic Prayer given to us by an authentic Mayan decendant around a flowering alter holding a smoking challace of tree resin, swam in at least 3 different cenote's, the one that Dan is diving in has no bottom!! Repelled down an over hanging cliff, zip lined the same area, kayaked a crocodile infested lake (we didn't see the crocodiles but were made absolutely certain that they live in it.) Had a mormon perspective guided tour of two of the ruins, which was facinating. meandered around Cancun, and went deep into authentic mexican villages where most people live in delapadated ruins themselves, there are dogs everywhere.
things i learned.
1 how anybody could not believe the book of mormon after studying it, and those lands I cannot understand
2 it is hot! muggy! no wonder the lamanites took to wearing nothing but loin cloths and shorn heads!
3. lots of mosquitos, i can't understand how the lamenites could wear nothing but loin cloths and shorn heads!!
4. every herb or plant a person would need to survive grows there!!
5. it is hot!
6. it must have been crazy coming up with the stones to build these buildings.
7. the Yukatan is flatter than the great planes and any mound you see is a ruin that hasn't been excavated yet!
8. the locals will try any means possible to get you into their stores!
9. i wouldn't want to win any sport they played back then!
10. if you want to intimidate any rival tribe or group just build a wall around your city with skulls carved on it of every major leader you ever killed in battle, and have it be huge and completely filled with skulls...(chichen itza)

all in all it was a great time and thanks to mom and dad for watching our kids while we were gone!! now, some peace and quiet.....then Italy!

body world exhibit

Ok, so Deena and I went to the Body Worlds exhibit in Salt Lake a couple of days ago. Here are a couple of thoughts:

1. People are lined up by the thousands to donate their bodies to Gunther Von Hagen for display. i am not quite sure what i think if this, after seeing the bodies (and yes it was awesome) i am not sure i would want my body splayed out in an unflattering position, holding my entrails up in my hand, or (as one display was setup) being in the arms of some female body in an acrobatic pose for the rest of eternity. That said i was very impressed with how these bodies were setup to display certain characteristics of muscle movement or body structure.

2. I don't know what the heck Plastanation is but all the bodies and organs where well preserved and there was no stinky fermaldahide-ish smell anywhere?!

3. Does anyone else think it is at least evil-doctorish, mad scientist, to take chainsaws to human cadavers to produce full body slides (for lack of a better word), or flair out muscles and rip open thoracic cavities to show every possible angle of the human body possible? it was awesome, but makes one think what they must be thinking as they actually cut into these people

4. the most amazing thing to me was the displays of arterial systems of the human head and various animals. i still cannot understand how they produce this. there is no bones skin or any structure other than the actual arteries and they have perfect shape of the body ....do they just dissolve the skin and bones out some how...i don't even want to think about it anymore

Caleb at the ode to Picasso exhibit

Caleb and Deena went to the Picasso exhibit in SLC a couple of days ago, and they 'bumped' into President Uchtdorf! Caleb shook his hand and talked with him for a little while! He says he felt warm inside while talking with him.. pretty neat experience. Even though the First Presidency is in SLC all the time, I think these occasions are pretty rare. I have never met any of the First Presidency ever, at least that I can remember. so everybody ask Caleb about his neat experience sometime!

Caleb's birthday party shoot-out!

So Calebs grandpa, promised him a trip up to the mountains for a shooting adventure. He even bought a little .22 rifle for him to use. The gun in the picture is actually a single shot .22! Caleb loved it. I got an opportunity to shoot his AR15 (the assault rifle that anybody at my house for Calebs birthday party saw!) with a silencer, his .40 pistol, numerous .22 pistols, and Calebs .22 rifle. we setup targets starting at 50 yards away, and Caleb knocked the bottle down numerous times. he really is a good shot! he learned the proper technique from his grandpa, who was a great teacher and patient with him!

so, my right ankle (the one with the funny bone thingy, that Rachel has also) has been sprained so dang many times in my life, and Monday morning, before i left town for Manti, i sprained it one more time. this is the typical result. I didn't have my resident nurse around for help. it was pretty tender, but i made it through the trip like a champ! all my guys wanted me to go to the hospital and have it checked out. (one even offered to pee on it for me....) i told them this has happened so many times that i am not worried about it, and just limped along.

Good night, my siblings are getting older! Good thing Becky and I were there to pave the way to 30 for you Jake or you might get lost along the way! 1979 was a glorious year. Jacob you were born before the 3-point shot! sheesh....some how all that 70's funk and junk, stayed attached to your chromosomes. i dare say that 90 % of all the songs you love most and play on your guitar come from that decade. You will also be happy to know that Deena did some Black Magic on Annie while she was here, and you are expected to have a litter of children. something like 8 sets of twins or something like that...good luck with that! I sure hope that this year ( your 30th..WOW) on this earth, treats you well, finds you wealthy, happy, and maybe even daddy. We wish you could be around more often, we miss your antics and good nature!! peace brother, and together ( Becky and I ) officially send you out of the 20's....

Sheesh -oh- man! as he would say.

the big Beinte Cinco. congratulations on making the ripe, and hallowed age of 25, it is a special year, Deena and I had our first child Caleb when i was 25. there is an age gap between us that really doesn't exist, i believe it is because of your ability to always keep it real. It is a neat talent that i appreciate. I for one have a hard time with BS, i tend to like everybody, i refuse to let other peoples opinions on somebody cloud my own experience or friendships with that person. It is refreshing to be around you Dan, not just because you are one of my siblings, but because you are not going to be somebody you are not just to please people. i personally love that about you. It makes others just want to be themselves when you are around. Personally i think that is what heaven is all about.
My Kids just love you! (and Angie) They always talk about you and wonder when they will see you guys again. you must have some kind of magic with them. Hope this year finds you doing the things you love, gaining a perspective on life, and following your dreams. you can do anything brother!

Cancun

Alright, this may seem weird, but we are blogging an opportunity for one lucky couple to travel with use to Cancun!! Deena and I have a deal for 7 days in Cancun Mexico, $300 per couple for the stay. we would still need to come up with air fare. Deena and I are going mostly to see the Mayan ruins (chichen Itza etc.) in the area and of course other warm weather activities. Deena's sister and brother-in-law were going to go, but now cannot. We were splitting the cost, so now we are looking for some fun family to travel with us if they can fit it in their schedule. Oct 12-19 of this year. Any serious takers please respond to the blog, or call us and let us know if you would like to travel with yon elder brother and his beautiful wife to the center of Mayan Civilization! the place we are staying has a kitchen so we can shop and eat cheeply if we wish, plus it has two seperate rooms in it. Caleb's First Baseball Game

So this was Caleb's first baseball game (t-ball). he had fun. he is the oldest kid on his team and he is a little advanced for t-ball. however it is good for him because it is teaching him the basic rules and procedures. i think he was a little bored with it all but survived and said he had fun.

well, it is mothers day and i think it is fitting to say a few words to my mother.

you really started me on my love of learning. i remember being young and sitting at our countertop doing word puzzles, and it seems you always had some new activity book or library book for us to read. i learned so much before i ever went to school that elementary school was a breeze (and frankly way to easy for me). i already knew everything that was being taught, so i needed to keep from being bored, usually by being a clown. you certainly had less 'seasoning' in your hair at that time, but i am sure i put most of the 'salt' in your pepper. you have such a fun personality. all my friends really truly liked you. there were times when i couldn't understand that, but it dawned on my when i realized that we truly have similar personalities. if they liked me then it would make perfect sense that they would like you. the more i have grown up, the more i have realized that your not just a 'mom' figure for me but someone i truly love conversing with. i have developed a keen interest in you over the last 10 years or so and in that time you have become one of my very favorite persons in the entire world. you are so fun to talk to and i really enjoy our conversations..my kids just love you!! i really have a deja-vu experience when i come in to pick them up and see them at the table doing word puzzles and coloring. it is just like 25 years ago.

you truly are the greatest mom! i am so proud to be your son and announce to the world that i think you are the best!!

alright, this may seem like the most boring post ever, but boring is my life sometimes. i fill my free time with reading or 'honey-do's' I have been on a revolutionary era kick and have been reading alot of biographies and history's of that era. It was amazing how much i really didn't know...pretty amazing historical time. i am also learning how to prune trees, since i planted a peach tree, and have a couple cherry and plum trees. and how to grow a square-foot garden... (ask Deena) it is all pretty cool and fun. so without further adu...this is how i spent my year.

I Highly recommend almost all of these books!! the hardest reads were Les miserables (my new favorite book of all time) and Moby Dick! i will probably never read another Jane Austin book, it is just too victorian and hard for me to take! Deena loves them though. the Original Alice in Wonderland is suprisingly good and entertaining. the Real Thomas Jefferson and series are wonderful! The Lonesome Gods was absolutely fantastic. and i recommend to anybody interested in american history you will enjoy 1491. it goes against 'conventional' and in my opinion flawed views on american history. it is really good. Some of these may seem weird for a 32 year old to read but i read them to my kids (usually Caleb) and i ended up enjoying them for the most part as well.

Spring Cleaning

Ok, so i spent the day clearing out the side of my house...Seriously, it was a chore! i found a pair of old pruners deep in the tangle of dogwood i was clearing out, that must be from the 50's! after numerous scrapes and near death experiences, an unexpected varmit or two, a truck load of gravel, a delirious round of wheelbarrow hauls, and raking, i finally have a usable space on the side of my house! You can see the shed now, which of course means i need to repair it (because it can be seen). i am going to put a double door on it so that i can park my (future) four wheeler in there, there is space for 2 of them DAD! (wink wink, nudge nudge)

1. lime green makes me so happy
2. I buy things I want or would enjoy playing with for my children's birthday and christmas presents.
3. I always stress out if I owe somebody I know money.
4. One of my favorite sayings is 'Beam me up Scottie' (especially when Caleb is writhing in pain in the back seat of the car because Andrew and Sammy are breathing too loud)
5. My favorite thing to do is to spend all day at the lake with just me, my sister, and my 3 kids. We have only slightly damaged the boat every time we have gone. Darn, I guess we do need men. JK
6. I love sweats
7 . I hate levi's
8. There are 2 things I really believe in: the gospel and the Thomas Jefferson Education Model.
9. As much as I believe in the TJE Model, I often feel inadequate in being the mentor I need to be.
10. I really usually only call my dad if "I need money or a favor" and I usually tell him so.... We laugh, I love you dad.
11. I talk to my mom everyday.
12. I have a shoe fetish (sp?). For the last 2 years the favorite has been Dansko's. I found a brand new pair at the D.I. for $5.00, that fit me perfectly. The Secret works (if you know what that is).
13. I do all of the family finances.
14. I love tennis. I just wish I could play it.
15. I've turned into that wierd homeschooling mom, that doesn't immunize her kids. Let's her kids walk around the neighborhood without shoes and doesn't wash their faces 24/7. However, not that it matters and I do not judge others for this, I could never nurse my child until they were 3 years old.
16. I lose 50% of everything I have and find about 25% of what I lost.

17. I use my husbands toothbrush (when I can't find mine) and he doesn't know.
18. I never know the lyrics to any songs, but sing them anyways.
19. I still take piano lessons.
20. I don't know how to tickle very well. My kids are always saying "owe", while they laugh.
21. I always get my husband excited about scratching his back, but spend the majority of time picking his zits (go annie!!!), which he finds very disappointing.
22. Balance seems really important in my life.
23. I wear a full body wet suit in an indoor heated swimming pool (Annie, it's a great idea for staying warm).
24. I love hot tub temperature baths and showers ( and my poor kids have followed in my foot step)
25. I absolutely love being a nurse, except when neighbors expect that you actually know something. This has been one of the greatest blessings throughout my life.

Delta Wrestling

Ok, so i don't know if anybody has come across this or not, but my boss was telling me of his wrestling days and how he was a state champion. i told him of dad and the Callister wrestlers from Delta. i found this site from a city that is pretty proud of their wrestler tradition. you should check it out. they claim that Delta was put on the map because of its Wrestling program! they have all the state champion years and information on the start of the wrestling/boxing program. yes that is correct it was originally known as the Delta High Wrestling/boxing team. the first year shown is 1949 and you guessed it Sheldon is the star wrestler / boxer for the team. i guess they used to switch off wrestling and boxing every other match or something like that! you need to check the site out. www.deltawrestling.org

I haven't updated my blog for a while...(thanks for the reminder Annie!). i have been out of town in Vegas for the last month. the weather was nice, and their churches are beautiful! they must have to really go the extra mile with their landscaping to counter act the...uh... other things happening in vegas! It is good to be back though! i found out that my wife really does love me.. she has been my phone stalker all month long. really everybody needs a stalker like that, i loved it! i shall make it my weekly goal to update the blog now that i am back.

Concert

So Dan and I went to a concert last night and it was a lot of fun! We both agreed that there were too many opening bands and they guy throwing up all over the floor made for an unforgetable atmosphere. The band we saw was Clutch, and they just may be my favorite rock n' roll band ever! They wrote the song that you hear on my site that Daniel remade. Marc Webb was there and got Daniel in for free, i met up with one of my good friends and during the show Daniel and I bumped into Vince! that was kind of cool. He was excited to see us. Brief explanation about Clutch lest you think we're crazy. they are a christian rock band from West Virginia and they play a heavy hill-billy jug, auto-mechanic in coveralls, bearded preacher, bible thumpin type music that i just love! it was a good time, and hopefully Daniel made it back home all right after dropping me off. it was 1:00am when i got home

I was going through my stuff trying to decide what needs to be put in my fireproof safe and what needs to just be tossed....i found some pictures Jake took of our Uintah's trip nie these 11 years...yikes can it truly have been that long ago.....first picture..this is the infamous proof that jacob caught this fish with his bare hands!! i found out later that it was almost dead though! the water picture...i know what you are thinking....he looks like somebody....well we had just completed a grueling few miles of hiking and it was warm...the water was NOT!! Jake only took the picture because i said i had lost my shorts while diving in. The snake picture just proves that Jacob can and will catch anything...i didn't even include the numerous salamanders he caught with his fishing pole.....good times!! we need to do it again little bro (both of you!!)

New First Presidency

I am soo excited!! i watched the press conference where President Monson and his counselors were introduced to the media. He is such a neat man! he looked in my opinion very prophetic, and you could just sense the mantel on him as the prophet. i know that Jacob is probably very excited about President Uchdorf, i have always thought that he 'glows', he just seems to radiate light and confidence. i think his talk last conference was probably one of my all time favorites! and President Eyring is my very favorite speaker, he wears his love on his sleeve and always has a great message of positive and optimistic living that must credit his parents and you can see that in all the apostles, i think Hinkley has rubbed off on them all!! i couldn't be more excited and optimistic about the future of our church.... what do you all think?

OOOHHH....Barracuda!!

Here are some pictures of our scuba dive on Buck Island. we were exploring a ship wreck at 50 feet. it was really neat. we got to get right down inside it and explore, we were under water for about 40 minutes each dive. Water was fairly comfortable as far as coldness is concerned. the reef dive was about 60 feet deep. The middle picture is of a Barracuda, that is Deena and I on the far right of the picture. i swam right past it and it stared at me with this evil stare the whole way!! they have a way of looking right through you that is pretty eerie. Top picture is the nurse shark at the reef. next picture is me exploring the ship wreck. bottom picture is me and Deena making our way over to the reef.

The Caribbean

Well, we are back! we had a really good time. the first couple of days in Florida were rainy but still warm. The highlight for me was the scuba diving trip we took to Buck Island on St Thomas. Yes it is THE Buck Island of pirate history!! there was a ship wreck there that we got to explore on our second dive and a reef that we got to dive on the first dive. We saw a reef shark and a barracuda, as well as many eels and reef fish that were very colorful and beautiful. Our Dive Master was a really cool guy who loved the history of the place and the wreck and made that dive much more interesting and fun for me!. we visited Princess Cays, St Maarten (france), and St Thomas (US Virgin Islands) as well as three days at sea in the Caribbean passing many beautiful islands that i have no idea what they were, with the exception Puerto Rico. Interesting culture on those islands, i bartered (not well) that really is Deena's specialty, picked up many 4 for $10 shirts, hats and a couple of trinkets. i found 3 sand dollars while snorkeling and saw some in shops for sale for $5 each..I took second in the Paddle ball tournament on the cruise ship and won a medal. Deena, decided much to my surprise to do the "battle of the sexes" tournament on the cruise ship and she took the gold medal!! i am pretty excited because Deena's dad had an underwater video camera and got video of our scuba dive. i can't wait to see that!! i will post some video as soon as i get it. we missed our kids alot, but had a great time together alone for the first time since our honeymoon! thanks to mom and dad for watching and taking great care of our kids while we were gone. Caleb can't stop talking about his trilobytes and the space museum!! sounds like they were pretty spoiled. The picture of Deena and I was taken on the Dive boat heading to Buck Island for our dive, and the other was an Iguana we came across while walking around St Thomas. i will post more later

Deena and i went scuba diving Saturday at the hot springs in Tremonton Utah. it was really neat. we were under the water for 48 minutes! we saw where the hotspring bubbles up and it was really HOT at that spot. the water was 98 degrees! so don't worry to much about how cold it was outside, the water felt wonderful! we saw a bunch of little (i mean really little) fish swimming around there and a lot of sea shells. it was good practice for the Caribbeann. in the picture Deena is already in the water because she couldn't wait for me to get equiped since it was sooo cold outside!! thats real love Daniel

Grandma Elodie

Though that Jacob and Annie would appreciate the fact that i printed out a bunch of their pictures of thier new house and took them over to Grandma Elodies. She had to first give me a big hug, then i showed her the pictures and you would have thought i handed her a million dollars. she was so happy see them. i promised i would share more as i get them. we ended up talking for like 2 hours before i left. she is a really neat person! She gave me a great discourse on Prayer, which truly made me a better person just hearing it!

It seems hard to believe sometimes that almost 15 years ago we were in the same class at Brighton. I really enjoyed having a class with you. believe it or not Rebekah, i was pretty darn proud of you. I had to goof around for attention, people just liked you. All my friends thought you were good looking and wanted me to try and hook you up with them. I always said no way! she is far too good for you guys. I remember you writing in my yearbook that year, it was not earth shattering but it is the one message in my book that means the most to me. i hope i wrote in yours, i think i did. there is always something about seeing your little sister when walking through the halls at school, i hope i always smiled at you because i was never embarrased or too good at least in my thinking. i always hoped you were having a good day and wanted to make sure that if there were any 'big brother' things that needed to be taken care of i was available or in tune to it. you always smiled at me, in fact becky, my rememberances of those years you were always smiling to me. i hope i smiled back. i think i did. Now things are different, yet you call (usually looking for deena) but you never seem too dissappointed when i answer the phone. my little sister has turned in to quite the lady, and always has an older brother that looks up to her!
